Summary

Introducing CBS: CBS is a circuit breaker simulator that allows for a replacement of
the field circuit breaker during the Testing of Interoperability with the protection
circuit, as well as the testing of 765kV recloser.

Necessity

In advanced countries, the number of breaker operations (100 to 200 times for UAE nuclear power) is severely limited due to
increased possibility of accidents caused by excessive number of blockers such as iron particles due to tests and other tests,
whereas in Korea, the number of blocks is overworking without any limit on the number of operations.

Substation Field Situations

Problems

  • Because the circuit breaker is repeatedly being operated in order to verify the reclosing system and protective relaying Testing of Interlocking,
    not a circuit breaker self-test, unnecessary motion operations are brought about in view of the circuit breaker
  • Because the circuit breaker is over-operated during the test, it may exert influence on the maintenance and life cycle of the circuit breaker,
    thereby leaving the possibility of a breakdown
